TG took up the guitar at age eight and a half with lessons given by C.D.”Corky” Chilton, on Fugate Rd, in Roanoke, Virginia.
From there, learning guitar happened quickly from several school friends. Drummer friend, David Elliott at the Wasena grade school, got them to perform on The Catcus Joe Show, a local live tv program that aired cartoons and various talent. It was after that live performance that TG knew that playing music was going to be his on going interest.
In 1982, TG even ran into Cactus Joe again when they just so happened to be seated next to each other at a food deli.
Shortly thereafter he agreed to switching to the electric bass in the seventh grade when forming a trio with guitarist, Everett Faulkner. Soon they were playing at several school functions and end of school year celebrations in the Fuller’s backyard, which was right next door to Patrick Henry High. (If any readers remember any of those performances, please comment.)
